Black Sand Beach

This is a very small beach. It has sand with mixed lava rock and minimal shade on the beach. Has great views of Lanai Island, Molokini Crater and Kahoʻolawe Island. For adults and children, the beach entering the water has a nice slow gradient.
It is a clean, quiet beach with no lifeguards on duty. This laid-back beach can become crowded on the weekends. If the parking lot is full, so is the beach!
The waves are nice and smooth which makes for a great morning beach. In the summer months, the swell can come up and bring 1-3 foot waves in the afternoon. Be careful in the fall months as larger waves have been known to suddenly appear with the afternoon swell.
No fires are allowed; use a small grill or hibachi in the park areas and keep them off the beach. Hot coals hidden in the sand can smolder for hours and creating a real danger to barefoot beachgoers the next day.
