There are 3 different main entrances to this beach off South Kihei Road. The middle and northern entrances offer access to a great kiteboarding and windsurfing beach access area. The southern entrance offers a parking area, grassy area, picnic tables and easy beach access.
It is a clean, family beach with no lifeguards on duty and plenty of room. This beach is rarely crowded and has great views of the West Maui Mountains. The beach entering the water in the fish pond has a nice slow gradation which makes it perfect for little ones and adults alike.
It really depends on what you want to do. If you want to snorkel in the fish pond, get there early, 7am. If you are looking to kiteboard or windsurf then your best chances of catching the warm trade winds will mostly in the afternoon after the swell has arrived.
No fires are allowed; use a small grill or hibachi in the park areas and keep them off the beach. Hot coals hidden in the sand can smolder for hours and creating a real danger to barefoot beachgoers the next day.
